FIFA Decides For Ashebir ( 24, Feb )
The meeting held in Zurich had resolved that the rule of Dr. Ashebir W.Giyorgis should be returned, and FIFA and CAF had denied all the actions taken during the “ General Meetings, ” which had resolved the end of the Doctor’s administration. The road map send to the new federation from the two football governing bodies said that FIFA and CAF recognize Dr. Ashebir W.Giyorgis and the remaining members of the EFF Excecutive Committee as legitimate leaders of the EFF.FIFA and CAF convoke a EFF Extraordinary General Assembly to take place in Addis Ababa on 29th March 2008 with an agenda composed of one single item: “ motion of dismissal ” of the current Executive Committee, according to the EFF status, stipulating that this motion to be approved, has to be voted by secret ballot and supported by 2/3 of the valid votes cast by the voting official delegates.
Ethiopian Football Federation Saked Dr. Ashebir (12, Jan)
The general meeting of the EFF held in Sheraton Addis had declared the end of Dr. Ashebir's rule over Ethiopian Football and had assigned Ato Ahmed Yassin as a president. The meeting has named the advisory board headed by Dr. Sheik Mohamed Ali Alamudin. Jan.18 early, the new administration had informed the public that it had started official rule after the handover tooks place. In this occasion some of the previous officialls who already had declard their withdrawal from Dr.Ashebir's administration had participated, Ato Wodofa, Ato Araya and Ato Ashenafi are among them. Dr.Ashebir is currently in Ghana, to be part of the 2008 ACN viewers.
Key Persons From The Ethiopian Football Federation Resigned ( 30, Dec. )
So important names like Ato Araya Tesfaye, the vice president of the federation, Ato Wrdofa and another official had resined early this mourning, and the totall number of the resigned officials of the EFF had reached 4, including ato Ashenafi, who was the public relation officer of the Federation. This had reassured all concerned bodies of the current situation happened in Ethiopian football that the regime of Dr. Ashebir W.giyorigis as a president of the Ethiopian Football Federation is already over.

Many of the country’s greatest clubs, including St. George FC, the 6 times champion of the Ethiopian Premier League and Ethiopian Coffee, which is supported by the vast majority of football fans in Addis Ababa, had disagreed with the administration of Dr. Ashebir W. Giyorgis, head of the Ethiopian Foot Ball Federation, and they had set their own “ Run Away League ”, while the federation had started the annual knock-out club’s competition. The Federation had conducted the competition in Addis Ababa Stadium while the departed clubs had undergone their knock out pre- season competition, named “ United Cup ” at Abebe Bikila Stadium. Not more than tens of spectacles had attended the games at Addis Ababa Stadium, while tens of thousands of football fans had attended the games held in Abebe Bikila Stadium. Many attempts to negotiate the two sides by different government and non government bodies had failed, so the two parties had continued their own actions. But the truth behind all this actions: Ethiopian Foot Ball is falling. The annual ranking of FIFA member countries had been announced some weeks ago, and Ethiopian had traveled back more than ten steps. It seems that the federation is some arrogant and non-critical, while the clubs are dependent on the wide fan base they already had.
The Ethiopian Foot Ball Federation had held its “ General Meeting ” and Un welcomed by the Clubs’ Union ( 5,September )
The General meeting of Ethiopian Foot Ball Federation had took place in Mekele, from September 1 – 2 and had decided to welcome the 11 departed clubs from the federation, if they come back. But the clubs had announced yesterday that they do not accept the call of the federation and the meeting generally because it lacks many legal sanctions. They had also announced that if the federation do not call another meeting which addresses all the clubs, they will be forced to set their own league and start competition in Addis.
The so called “ Union of Clubs ” had called last month a demonstration opposing the administration of Dr Ashebir as the president of the Federation, and tens of thousands of football fans had took part in it.
Ethiopian Women Foot Ball Team Outs (17, July)
The Ethiopian Women's national foot ball team had its first match in the All African Games against Nigeria. The team lost 3 - nil and its second match was held the past Sunday against S.Africa. The team again was defeated 3 - 1, thoug played better. All the problems in the team piont to the defence area.
The Federation Took Action Against Ato Abinet G.meskel( 10, July )
The Ethiopian Football federation had announced that legal actionis taken against Ato Abinet G.Meskel, head of the St. George FC board, for his speech which insults the heads of CAF. After the match between his team St. George and Etoile Du Congo, the federation had announced that Abinet had called the CAF president " mafia " . But Ato abnet had told reporters that after about 4 mounths, the action tacken by the federation is not fair, and its aim is to untie the integrity and strength of the Union of Ethiopian Foot Ball Clubs, who had already became against the administration of Dr. Ashebir W.giorgis as president of the EFF. Ato Abnet is suspended from any Foot ball activities for three years and is expected to pay 30,000 Ethiopian $.
Awassa City Becomes Champion (28, June )
The Ethiopian Foot ball Federation had announced that following the withdrawal of more than the half of the Ethiopian Premier league participating teams, including the leaders St. George and Ethiopian Coffee, Awassa City, who were third and got 1st already had won the title of 1999 EC in their match at Harer against Harar City.
The problem between The Ethiopian Foot ball Federation and The Women’s National team had been resolved. ( 20, June )
The Ethiopian Football Federation today called members of the Ethiopian Women National team and awarded each 1000 Ethiopian $ as an incentive for their successful carriage. Dr.Ashebir Woldegiorgis, president of the EFF and vice president of CECAFA had apologized the team members for the problem that was happened before. “ …here after we have to forget all that happened before and work together and hard for the upcoming qualifying matches. Rahel Degfe, the captain, had told reporters that the players are pleased by the ceremony and had accepted the apology.
The team had two important stages forward, the All African Games ( Algiers ) and the 2008 Beijing Olympic last qualifying round. For the All African Games, the team will start training next Saturday, and for the 2008 Olympic, it will face S.Africa, Nigeria and Congo to be qualified best.
Ethiopian Government to take Action ( 18 June )
Ethiopian Government is to take action in order to resolve the problem which was recently happened between the Ethiopian Football federation and participating Clubs in the Ethiopian Premier League. The state ministry of youth and Sport recently announced that the problem must be solved immediately. Recently the union of the clubs had announced that the clubs had decided to stop taking part in the year’s program following the repetitive breaks of the program as the result of the National Team’s continental participations in the qualifiers ( Beijing 2008 and Ghana 2008)
Ethiopian Women’s National Team Members Complained “ lack of a warm welcome ” ( 19 june )
After beating Moroccan National team at Akra with an aggregate 3 –2 ( +1 as the team scores away ) , the national team had arrived Addis last night, but was not welcomed by the federation. The team had become one of the last 4 remnants for the last round qualification in order to represent the continent in the 2008 Beijing Olympic. As the coaches and the players had told reporters yesterday, the members of the team were forced to spent all the night in the reception of “ Harambe Hotel ” in Addis. The team had also complained that two players were unfairly sent away by the Federation. Ato Ashenafi, on behalf of the federation had apologized for all the problems happened and told the news that the Federation will do its best to encourage the successful team.
