The Ethiopian Football Federation Suspended ( 29, July )
The long lasting dispute in the Ethiopian Football Federation between Dr. Ashebir W. Giyorgis, the former president, and the new EFF governing body had caused a penality on the football progression of the nation, finally.
The full statement from FIFA is as follows:
The FIFA Emergency Committee has decided to suspend the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) due to the non-compliance of the EFF with the roadmap agreed in February 2008 by FIFA, CAF and the EFF in order to normalise the situation of the federation.
One of the main points established by the roadmap was the organisation of an extraordinary general assembly to deal with the motion of dismissal. In addition, the EFF offices were to be handed over to the recognised leadership of the association. Despite several reminders sent by FIFA in recent months, none of the steps established in the roadmap have been taken.
The suspension of the EFF and the consequences provided for in article 14, paragraph 3 of the FIFA Statutes come into force today, Tuesday, 29 July 2008, the day on which the federation has been officially notified of its suspension.

After the end of the game there was a lot of protest in front of the main gate of the Addis Ababa Stadium and in different streets of the city, most of them pointing towards the new coach Abraham Tekle Haimanot. The mistakes clearly visible on the pitch were that the national team lacks creative players in the midfield. More over the role of the defensive and offensive midfielders was not clear, and the coach was not active to make changes and pick better players from his squad. The national team was playing long passes which was not the traditional way of Ethiopian football, and here giving a chance to the more physically fit team of Rwanda took possession easily.

The " Run Away League " set by the departed clubs of the Ethiopian Premier League and the Premier League it self as they appear: ( 13, Nov )
Many of the country’s greatest clubs, including St. George FC, the 6 times champion of the Ethiopian Premier League and Ethiopian Coffee, which is supported by the vast majority of football fans in Addis Ababa, had disagreed with the administration of Dr. Ashebir W. Giyorgis, head of the Ethiopian Foot Ball Federation, and they had set their own “ Run Away League ”, while the federation had started the annual knock-out club’s competition. The Federation had conducted the competition in Addis Ababa Stadium while the departed clubs had undergone their knock out pre- season competition, named “ United Cup ” at Abebe Bikila Stadium. Not more than tens of spectacles had attended the games at Addis Ababa Stadium, while tens of thousands of football fans had attended the games held in Abebe Bikila Stadium. Many attempts to negotiate the two sides by different government and non government bodies had failed, so the two parties had continued their own actions. But the truth behind all this actions: Ethiopian Foot Ball is falling. The annual ranking of FIFA member countries had been announced some weeks ago, and Ethiopian had traveled back more than ten steps. It seems that the federation is some arrogant and non-critical, while the clubs are dependent on the wide fan base they already had.
